"And Peter answered Him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto Thee on the water. And He said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?" (Matthew 14:28-31)
Sometimes the Lord asks us to step out onto ground upon which we're not entirely comfortable walking. Sometimes it's not ground at all, but water. It's completely uncertain and we're entirely out of our element. In those cases, He bids us come towards Him. Just walk towards Him. And if we do, and we pay attention to nothing but Him, we'll be just fine. But should we get distracted, should we begin to grow doubtful and should we start to sink--should we call out, terrified, "Lord, SAVE ME!!"--He will immediately do so.
When He asks us to do something, he |absolutely never| leaves us to drown. Even when we make a mistake, when we are trying hard to head towards Him, He will catch us when we fall.
