I woke up this morning to the sun shining through the cheap blinds in the playroom, where I spent the night on the couch (long story, but I've been sleeping here for a week). And I thought about how the earth is unaware of us in many ways--it twirls on its axis and races along its track in its order heedless of humankind putting labels on its revolutions like "now it is the new year." To the earth, today is a day just like yesterday and the day before that, and tomorrow will dawn exactly the same way that today did.
No matter what artificial labels we put on its movements, snow will fall until spring, then flowers will grow and the ground will thaw and rain will wake up the grass. The air will warm up, and away in the southern hemisphere, things will get colder. Earth will roll around its course grandly and majestically, just as it has since the day it was created, paying no mind to us as we cling to its surface, our home.
:) Isn't it beautiful?
