I've never thought of myself as a very creative person, but now I want to draw all the things and write all the things and make meaning in the way I move my body. I want to make music with my throat and with my fingers. I want to braid grass and stuff--I don't care, I just want to MAKE something.
I'm telling you, a week of working all alone really takes its toll on me, in so many ways.
Creativity, people. Creativity is life. I've been noticing this desire to draw a lot lately. Which is weird, because I haven't drawn since middle school--not really. And to write fiction. (P.S. if you guys want, I can post some fiction somewhere for you to read. Just let me know if that interests you.) I like writing fiction a lot.
What's more, I'm feeling this urge to read fiction. Not, like, Percy Jackson or Fablehaven or any of the things my little brothers are currently reading, but titanic, sweeping, moral, vital quests to save the world. Quests that take someone who is afraid and make them brave. Quests where the hero, though feeling small and scared and far from home, vanquishes the dragon. Stories that really matter. Stories that change me as well as the protagonist. I want to read those again.
I want to dance, and sing, and play the piano again, and write, and draw, and paint, and laugh, and hug people. I wouldn't be opposed to some friendly wrestling, or even, like, playing Peter Pan and the Lost Boys in the woods, except you'd have to let me be a lost boy because I am NOT ready to grow up. I'd let you be Peter. We'd tie bandannas around our heads and go barefoot. I want my jeans to be the most comfortable pants on earth again, AND I WANT A HOLE IN THE KNEE. And I want my t-shirts to fit just right.
I miss my thirst for adventure and my taste for the unknown. My head belongs in the clouds, not winding its way through the world of computer repair. And, okay, I can deal with that in the daytime, but it's starting to weave its way into my *dreams*. Like my literal nighttime visions. What? -_-
I'm never going to get my childhood back, so why must I keep thinking of it and just wanting it back?
I'm still just a little girl.
